Is thinking even possible anymore ?

One of the looniest conspiracy theories ever is the idea that we went into lockdown as part of a Democratic plot to destroy the economy and therefore Trump's chances of reelection.

It's not that I put it past the centrist-Democratic party or it's close allies in the MSM.  Every minute of every day has felt like "get Trump" at all costs.   And this is coming from someone (me) who didn't vote for Trump.   We'll retrun to this in a bit 

The easiest way to poke a hole in the ballon of "Covid 19 is a hoax to destroy the Trump administration and steal the election" is this - pretty much all the countries of the world closed down their economies and sheltered in place.   Sure there were a few exceptions, perhaps most famously Sweden, which suffered a higher number of Covid deaths than it's neighbor states that had some kind of lockdown.    As an aside I consider it one of the most surprising things about the Pandemic that American conservatives are now saying we should be more like Sweden.   Can single payer be within our grasp?  

Some contries didn't have a lockdown but tested extensively and traced in a way that would make the NSA envious.  In Japan and South Korea, to name but two, where masks are worn to prevent spreading the common cold, people gladly wore masks to prevent the spread of Covid 19.      

My point is that most of this planet's nation-states took fairly drastic measures to combat the spread of Covid 19.   Most damaged their economies to a consierable degree even where generous benefits have prevented spiking unemployment levels.  Other nations have not escaped such a fate.     Ostensibly all this was for the benefit of Joe Biden and the Democratic Party.    If it's all a hoax perpetrated by the Democratic Party and the MSM why did all these other nations go along?    What was in it for them?    How can the Democratic Party have trouble winning an election yet exert so much power over France, Italy, Spain, etc. ?    Couldn't they just use that power here at home to make sure Uncle Joe wins?    

Even if you believe the MSM is rabidly anti-Trump (they are) and would spin any story any which way to make him look bad (they would, do, and will) it's still not credible that the MSM controls the destiny of approximately 150 countries.  

At some point you have to acknowledge that your conspiracy theory doesn't pass the smell test.     

The other nations that went into lockdown, which is most of them, apparently did it to protect their citizens from Covid 19, not to ensure that Trump looses in November.   It's not too much of a stretch to immagine that the real reason for the US to go into lockdown was health and safety - the very same reason that motivated hundreds of other countries.
